Chelsea are keeping tabs on Jeremy Jacquet and Jacobo Ramon as they look for a new centre back this month according to Ben Jacobs.

The Blues’ struggles at centre back were once again displayed in the defeat to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Chelsea opted against signing a new centre back in the summer, despite public pleas from Enzo Maresca after Levi Colwill suffered an ACL injury.

Chelsea interested in Jeremy Jacquet and Jacobo Ramon

However, it’s been reported Chelsea are now looking to sign a centre back this month, and Liam Rosenior has obviously come to the same conclusion as Maresca.

The Blues have just under two weeks to get a deal done, and it remains to be seen if they do bring anyone in still.

Chelsea have previously been linked with Jacquet, who’s believed to be attracting interest from a number of Europe’s top clubs. but there are other names on the radar.

Jacobs has reported for talkSPORT that as well as Jacquet, Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Como’s Ramon, and have discussed Marcos Senesi.

Senesi turns 29 in May, and Jacobs has added that Chelsea are more inclined to look at a younger name given their transfer policy.

If the Blues are going to sign another young up and coming centre back it would surely make more sense to recall Aaron Anselmino or Mamadou Sarr who are both impressing on loan.

Aaron Anselmino impressing at Borussia Dortmund

Whilst Chelsea seemingly have a number of talented centre backs on their radar, they already have two on their books in Anselmino and Sarr.

It doesn’t make sense to add another centre back of the same or similar age especially if they aren’t going to be a significant upgrade in terms of quality.

Anselmino has impressed on loan at Dortmund, and the Bundesliga club reportedly want to sign the Argentine on a permanent basis.

However, Chelsea have insisted he’s not for sale, whilst Sarr is also impressing at Strasbourg, and you’d imagine at least one, if not both will be part of the first team squad at Stamford Bridge next season.
