Benfica add Javi Guerra to shortlist for Marco Silva’s midfield | OneFootball

Benfica have added Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra to their shortlist as they plan for next season under Marco Silva.

According to Glorioso 1904, there are no formal talks between the clubs and no agreement with the player, but he is being closely monitored.

The Benfica hierarchy admire the Spaniard’s profile. While cordial ties with Valencia could ease any future dialogue, the process remains at scouting and assessment only, without a concrete move.

A product of Villarreal and Valencia, the 23-year-old has become a standout for the Valencia side in recent seasons, noted for physicality, ball carrying and timing of runs. He is contracted until June 2029.

Guerra operates primarily as a central midfielder but can be used higher up. Standing 1.88 metres, he blends power with technique and excels in transitions. In 2025/26 he made 36 La Liga appearances, scoring four goals with six assists.
