Benfica can breathe a sigh of relief, with Gonçalo Oliveira out of danger after a dramatic stoppage-time injury in the Benfica B v Porto B clássico.

Record writes that the 19-year-old defender suffered only a slight ankle sprain. His recovery is not expected to be lengthy and will not hinder the start of next season.

Oliveira’s collapse in added time sparked alarm as he was treated on the pitch, then taken straight to hospital for tests.

His Benfica future for 2026/27 is not yet confirmed. He has options for the next step, with his name linked to several clubs, including some in Ligue 1.

This season the centre-back, valued at two million euros, has made 33 appearances for Benfica, 24 in Liga Portugal Meu Super and nine in the UEFA Youth League. Across 2,882 minutes he has scored four goals and provided two assists.
