According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica expect to bank further sums from Portugal international António Silva’s transfer to Bournemouth, with the Rui Costa-led board believing the add-ons are realistic over the coming years.
The agreement is worth 25 million euros up front, plus up to 5 million euros in add-ons tied to performance and team results. The clauses relate to starts, years at Bournemouth and qualification for European competitions.
Those targets are considered attainable given Bournemouth’s recent progress in the Premier League.
Last season, the Cherries finished sixth, earning a Europa League spot and narrowly missing a landmark Champions League place. That campaign strengthens the belief the thresholds could be met.
Should the objectives be achieved, Benfica would receive the additional 5 million euros, significantly increasing the return on one of the summer market’s biggest sales.
