Benfica face new competition for Thiago Almada. Galatasaray have added the Atlético Madrid playmaker to their January plans, which could complicate the Lisbon club's pursuit.

According to Glorioso 1904, the reigning champions of Türkiye have placed the Argentine on a shortlist of potential signings. It remains a complicated deal given the fees involved and the number of suitors.

There have been suggestions the midfielder has drawn numerous admirers, amid claims he has not felt settled in Madrid and is seeking a fresh direction in his career.

Even so, Benfica's interest is said to have been revived by rumours that Almada does not plan to return to South American football.

Last week, Diego Pablo Simeone responded to the links and underlined that he will not accept the player's departure, insisting he counts on him.

Almada, valued at 20 million euros, has made 18 appearances for Atlético Madrid this season, 12 in La Liga, three in the Champions League, two in the Copa del Rey and one in the Supercopa. Across 681 minutes he has scored two goals and provided one assist.
