Benfica ‘monitoring’ Tiago Gabriel for 2026/27 | OneFootball

Benfica are tracking Lecce centre-back Tiago Gabriel for 2026/27, with the 21-year-old added to a list of possible signings, according to Nicolò Schira.

Gabriel left Estrela da Amadora in January 2025, quickly established himself in Serie A and helped the club avoid relegation. There has been no concrete approach so far, Record reports.

A centre-back is a priority for Benfica. Nicolás Otamendi has joined River Plate, Gonçalo Oliveira is close to Stade Rennais, and Tomás Araújo may report back late due to the World Cup, leaving António Silva as the only option at the start of pre-season.

Fulham defender Jorge Cuenca is also on the shortlist and could even accompany Marco Silva in a move to the Luz. Any arrival would not rule out another signing, as the club plan to reinforce the position.

Last season José Mourinho spent much of the campaign with only three centre-backs, at times deploying Enzo Barrenechea in that role.
