Benfica are not expected to sign a striker before the end of the winter window after missing out on Lucca. According to Glorioso 1904, the club do not see a new forward as necessary at this stage.
In Lorenzo Lucca’s case, Benfica lost the race, with the Italian joining Nottingham Forest on loan from Napoli. Financial demands prevented any agreement on the Portuguese side.
Several forwards had been linked in recent weeks.
Jeff Ekhator is a different dossier. The young Genoa forward remains well regarded and is viewed as one for the future, yet a deal this month is considered improbable.
Genoa’s terms and the limited time before the deadline complicate an immediate understanding, pushing any move into the summer.
Internally, recent backing for Anísio Cabral supports that stance. The youngster scored on his first-team debut, impressing the staff and earning credit.
