Benfica ‘to approach’ Wolfsburg top scorer Dzenan Pejcinovic | OneFootball

Benfica are tracking Wolfsburg striker Dzenan Pejcinovic, the club’s leading scorer, with a strong approach reported ahead of the summer window, according to Kicker.

The 21-year-old left-footed forward was a rare bright spot in a difficult campaign for Wolfsburg. He scored 12 in 34 matches, including eight in the Bundesliga, as the club were relegated to Bundesliga 2 after 29 straight seasons in the top flight.

His progress has drawn attention from several sides. Freiburg, Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt are monitoring him, alongside Benfica.

Despite the growing interest, the player could prefer to remain in Germany. Wolfsburg also want to keep a key figure as they target an immediate return to the Bundesliga.

Only an exceptional offer, understood to be above €20m, could prompt a sale.
