The second match of the women’s futsal league play-off final between Nun’Álvares and Benfica was halted amid disorder with a little over four minutes remaining, then restarted as Benfica won 4-1 to level the final. The stoppage lasted 32 minutes.

According to Glorioso 1904, the Guarda Nacional Republicana identified five Benfica supporters for alleged involvement in assaults, and no arrests were made despite suggestions on the television broadcast.

Tensions flared after Angélica Alves was sent off for handling in the area, a decision given on video review that also brought a penalty for the hosts.

As she headed for the dressing rooms, Alves responded to comments from the stands, further stoking the mood. Soon after, Maria Pereira exchanged words with Nun’Álvares fans and had to be restrained by team-mates.

Security intervened and both teams returned to the dressing rooms while order was restored. Play resumed once calm had been re-established.

The result leaves the final tied after a 4-2 defeat in the opener. The decider is scheduled for 6 June at Pavilhão da Luz.
