Karim Benzema’s move from Al-Ittihad to Al-Hilal could earn Olympique Lyonnais up to €1m via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism.

Sportune reports that the switch is based on an estimated €25m fee, which would yield the maximum payment to OL.

This would not be training compensation, which OL received when Benzema joined Real Madrid in 2009, but the solidarity share on a domestic transfer.

Under FIFA regulations, solidarity payments, totalling five percent of any transfer fee for a permanent move or a loan, are distributed to training clubs when a professional moves between clubs in the same association, provided the training club is affiliated to a different association.

OL have not confirmed any figure. The fee between the Saudi clubs is unknown, the final amount can depend on several factors, and the club’s legal team is awaiting further details.
