After failing to sign a starting striker during the primary transfer window, New York City FC will likely try to sign a scoring forward during the secondary transfer window this summer. A striker is needed, but the Pigeons should aim to sign at least one star player.

In Europe, there are some big-name players who will be on the move from their current clubs. Mohamed Salah is one of them, and he would be a great signing for NYCFC. Although based on money and the possibility of him not wanting to come overseas, it is unlikely. Then, there is also Bernardo Silva of Manchester City F.C., and he will be a free agent this summer as well. But could the Bronx side try to sign the midfielder?

Truthfully, NYCFC should reach out and inquire about his services. He is a part of City Football Group, and the Big Apple is a great city for sports. He is extremely talented, but in the end, it would be shocking if he came to Major League Soccer.

Bernardo Silva will not consider NYCFC or any MLS team

While the Portuguese international is not a striker, Silva is a fantastic attacking midfielder who is extremely versatile. He can play all over the pitch, but predominantly plays as an attacking midfielder, winger, and central midfielder. In the case of NYCFC, he could be the replacement for Maxi Moralez, or Nicolás Fernández Mercau can play as the number ten, and Silva could be the right-winger. Of course, there are rumors surrounding Fernández Mercau, and hopefully, he will not leave the Boys in Blue.

Silva is not someone who will score double-digit goals, but he should find the back of the net throughout the year. But how he plays in the midfield, the way he contributes with his passes, supports the offensive sequences, creates chances, and just moves around the pitch are all reasons why anyone would want to sign him. Like Moralez, he just makes those around him better.

Silva would be great for NYCFC, but as mentioned, it would be shocking if he came stateside. The reason is simple: there are top European teams that have an interest in the player. Per ESPN and other sources, teams like FC Barcelona and Juventus FC want to sign him on a free transfer. This means that the 31-year-old, who turns 32 in August, would be able to play at a top level in Europe for another couple of years.

This is also an interest from his boyhood club, Sport Lisboa e Benfica, and Saudi Arabia. Of course, Saudi Arabia teams can pay more than those in MLS. Therefore, when all is said and done, fans should expect Silva not to cross the pond. Still, it would be a dream for him to play with NYCFC.

However, that will never happen. Or, at least that would not happen now. But would the Boys in Blue want to sign the midfielder in a few years? Will he still play at a high level? That is unknown at this time, but more than likely, the answer for NYCFC will be no. And that is fair. At least with someone like Salah, fans know that he still can score goals and would likely be influential in MLS. But in the end, it would be shocking if either player signed in MLS.
