HAMILTON, Canada – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup kicked off with Forge FC and Tigres UANL playing to a scoreless draw in the first leg of their Round One series on Tuesday at Hamilton Stadium in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
The Canadian side’s best attempt came in the 17’, as Ben Paton struck a left-footed shot inside the six-yard box, connecting with a long cross from Rezart Rama, but the ball rolled across the face of goal and was cleared out of bounds by Juan Jose Purata.
Recently signed goalkeeper Dimitry Bertaud made his debut with Forge FC, recording a clean sheet and seven saves.
One of Bertaud’s notable saves came in the 43’, denying an outside the box attempt off the half-volley from Marcelo Flores with a tip over the crossbar.
Juan Brunetta had the last look of the match in the 90’+5’, with a right-footed shot from a free kick that was blocked by the Forge wall.
The two clubs will meet again in the second leg of the series on February 10 at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The winner on aggregate will advance to the Round of 16.
