Bertrand Traoré is considering his next move after leaving Sunderland earlier this summer.
According to RMC, Sunderland are in advanced talks with Toulouse for left back Dayann Methalie and have an agreement with the 20-year-old, with a package worth about £25 million and a five-year deal under discussion.
Traoré became a regular for Régis Le Bris in the first half of last season after a deadline day switch from Ajax. An injury at the Africa Cup of Nations stalled his momentum, and a brief substitute outing at Leeds United brought a recurrence that ended his campaign. Sunderland then chose not to trigger an option for another year on Wearside.
Interest in the 30-year-old has since grown. FC Porto, champions of the Primeira Liga and set for the Champions League, are among those to enquire. Traoré knows head coach Francesco Farioli from their time together at Ajax.
Al Shabab and Nice have also asked about him, and Premier League clubs are monitoring, though nothing has progressed at this stage.
Sunderland are also chasing a right winger, with AS Roma Matías Soulé among potential options. Methalie, an attacking full back who has often operated at wing back, featured regularly last season and is viewed as one of Ligue one’s brightest prospects. With Dennis Cirkin gone and Arthur Masuaku expected to move on amid interest from Konyaspor, Reinildo is the only senior left back and is in the final year of his contract.
