Besiktas president Serdal Adali expects his club to reach a happy ending in their negotiations with Lazio for Nuno Tavares, expecting the player to join them sooner rather than later.

Nuno Tavares Set to Leave Lazio in January

The 25-year-old lost his starting spot this season after a few poor outings that highlighted his defensive limitations, especially against Roma and Bologna. Therefore, the Biancocelesti are looking to cash in on his services as soon as possible, and replace him with Villarreal’s Alfonso Pedraza, who has already agreed to join the club next summer.

Tavares has been linked with Sergio Conceicao’s Al-Ittihad earlier this month, while Borussia Dortmund recently enquired about his services. Nevertheless, Besiktas have always been his staunchest admirers, and they’re now keen to close the deal with Lazio, having already found an agreement with the player and his entourage.

Besiktas Expect to Wrap up Tavares Deal with Lazio

As reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Besiktas’ president Adali confirmed that their negotiations with the Biancocelesti are now at an advanced stage, as he expects the accord to be finalised in a matter of days, if not hours.

For Nuno Tavares, there appear to be no issues on the player’s side. Talks with his parent club are ongoing and a further meeting took place yesterday. The deal could be wrapped up as early as today or in the coming days. The operation remains well advanced and shows no signs of breaking down, even though the club already have an alternative plan in place should the move fail to materialise.

Tavares’ Plumetting Price Tag

Last season, Lazio president Claudio Lotito once claimed that he wouldn’t sell Tavares, not even for €70 million. However, following a sensational start to his Roman stint, the left-back endured a fall from grace, so the Aquile are reportedly willing to sell him for circa €15 million, with Arsenal set to receive a 35% sell-on fee.
