The Juventus Men's First Team picked up three important points on Serie A Matchday 15, going away to Bologna and returning home with a clean sheet and a 1-0 win thanks to Juan Cabal's second-half header.
It was Michele Di Gregorio who was called into action first. With about five minutes on the clock he reacted well to make a double save, with the second of those keeping Riccardo Orsolini out. A few moments later he was again alert to deny Nicolo Cambiaghi.
Kenan Yildiz was the first in bianconero to go close, but Federico Ravaglia denied his effort.
With the game opening up as the half approached its midway point, Orsolini continued to try to trouble Di Gregorio, having an effort from range not only stopped but caught at full-stretch.
The Bianconeri looked to have got themselves in front after the half-hour mark after Weston McKennie selflessly teed up Jonathan David, but the American had been offside in the build-up and so the goal was ruled out.
On the stroke of half-time, Orsolini put Nadir Zortea through and his shot from a tight angle hit the crossbar.
After the break, the Bianconeri looked to get at their hosts from the off. Francisco Conceicao, hoping to mark his birthday with a goal, started the half by firing a shot just over the crossbar from outside the box.
On the hour mark, Andrea Cambiaso looked to force Ravaglia into action but, like Conceicao earlier, sent his effort over. Luciano Spalletti then looked to shake things up with a couple of changes, taking Cambiaso and David off for Lois Openda and Juan Cabal, and both announced their arrivals in style.
Openda immediately got involved in the attack, linking up with Yildiz to tee up the no.10 for a fierce effort that flew just by the post. From the resulting corner, Cabal found himself unmarked in the box and headed home the opening goal from close range.
The Belgian’s arrival continued to be felt by Bologna, and he got in behind their backline before being fouled by Torbjorn Heggem, who was sent off for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
With the hosts down to ten, their threat lessened significantly, and substitute Federico Bernardeschi came closest with a tame shot straight at Di Gregorio.
There was still time for more good news though, with Gleison Bremer making his return to action to replace Teun Koopmeiners.
The result could have been sealed in the 90th minute when Yildiz went in on goal, but he was crowded out and had his shot blocked. Moments later, Openda forced a fine save out of Ravaglia.
Without any more goals, the clean sheet was secured and the points were wrapped up.
