However, Birmingham fans clearly confident of a full house against United.

The St Andrew’s capacity is claimed to be 29,000+ online, however, there have been a number of League One crowds of 27,000+ this season, so guessing that is in reality, the current working capacity.

Birmingham fans are full of optimism these days, their team looking set to return to the second tier, as they are top of League One and have two games in hand on both clubs in second and third.

How though are they viewing this upcoming FA Cup distraction against Eddie Howe and his team?

Birmingham fans react to drawing Newcastle United in the FA Cup, commenting via their Small Heath Alliance message board:

‘Cancelled my works reunion so I can go!!’

‘I mean…I’m biased but it doesn’t look like a ‘league one’ v prem fixture, does it?

Let’s hope we can make a good game of it.

I reckon both sets of fans looking forward to this.’

‘Think Howe might need silverware to keep his job though, so they will be at the races and full strength I imagine

Edit – just seen the proximity to the League Cup Semi, that could make it more interested if they have to rotate after that. Hopefully Arsenal take them to extra time’

‘I want to see where we’re at against a proper side.’

‘This Newcastle game will sell out faster than the League Cup Quarter Final did v vile.’

‘Just had a browse of one of the Toon forums and some of them were floating trying for home end tickets

If you’re watching, GOOD LUCK WITH THAT LADS.’

‘They’ve got to buy them online, not sure any of them could use a computer, if indeed they even own one.’

‘Cracking draw and fancy us to win this tie. They’ll be tired after the league cup semi a few days before.’

‘I hope we give them a good game but they ought to win this.’

‘There were 17,000 there yesterday [in the win over Lincoln in the third round]. Add 3,000 extra away fans and it leaves 7,000 extra tickets for our less loyal supporters.’

‘Newcastle charged £30 in the 3rd round against bromley and still sold 50k.’

‘ I do believe the game sells out as high as £50 if we wanted to charge that especially with Newcastle having 4k in the GML should the club want to cash in a bit.’

‘Newcastle have Man City, Forest and Liverpool all following our tie.

Plus Arsenal in the days that proceed it.

Can’t see them fielding their strongest XI.’

‘Newcastle didn’t fully rotate against Bromley, I don’t think they’ll fully rotate against us, just what they have to do to keep people fit’

‘We could see rotation against Newcastle.’

‘If it was WBA v Newcastle I doubt many would consider it a glamour tie.

There will be more neutral interest in our tie than there would be for that.’

‘Went to a West Brom v Newcastle cup game once. F…ing thousands of Geordie ba..ards there were, all dressed like the Bay City Rollers.’

‘Might be a bit trickier for the geordies getting back on the train.’

‘8.03pm last Train home for them, with a replacement bus from York.’

‘What a country.

They always have a big away following though. They’re geordies, they’re mental etc.

Great tie for us given how they’re going just now.’

‘please don’t sell our soul to the premier league team… give them the minimum allowed tickets, this is Our House.’

‘I’m out that night for my mom’s 80th birthday party!! Got to try and work out if she’ll miss me being there.’

‘Go to the party. Not to be morbid but it could be her last.

‘Another couple of years and we will be playing Newcastle again and I’ve been to enough big games in the past. I’ll be praying for a win and Man City in the 5th round.’
