Blackburn Rovers are close to sealing their third signing of the summer window
Blackburn Rovers are eyeing a deal for Moussa Baradji from Swiss club Yverdon Sports.
According to journalist Elliott Jackson, a deal has been agreed to sign the midfielder, with a medical pencilled as a move draws near.
Valerien Ismael is looking to bolster his first team squad this summer after the Lancashire outfit narrowly missed out on a play-off place last season.
Baradji featured 27 times in the Swiss Super League last year, with his side suffering relegation from the top flight with a 12th place finish.
Blackburn have reportedly agreed a deal with Yverdon Sports to sign Baradji this summer, with a deal set to be finalised soon.
It is expected that the 24-year-old could be made an official Rovers player before this weekend’s friendly against Accrington Stanley.
It has also been reported by Alan Nixon that the cost of the deal will amount to £1.5 million following their relegation from the Swiss Super League.
Despite the team’s disappointing campaign, Baradji has earned praise for his level of performance in a breakout campaign for the club.
Ismael will be hoping he can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact at Blackburn.
The midfielder will join up with the side in the middle of their pre-season preparations, with the club aiming to fight for a play-off place in the Championship next year.
Blackburn have already completed two signings this summer in a bid to bolster Ismael’s side.
Sidnei Tavares has joined the club from Moreirense, while Dion De Neve has made the switch from Belgian side KV Kortrijk.
Rovers have until 1 September to finalise any remaining deals before the market closes for the summer.
Their first league game will take place on 9 August, with the Lancashire outfit set to visit West Brom.
Blackburn have signed a player from Portugal and Belgium, and are now looking to bring in someone from Switzerland.
This is a wide net that they are casting to sign players, with the club learning to find cost-effective alternatives that could help improve the team.
Baradji has earned a lot of praise for his performances in the Super League, and his arrival for £1.5 million could prove a very shrewd piece of business if he can quickly settle into life in English football.
It is also encouraging that Blackburn are getting these deals done early in the window, giving these players time to adjust to their surroundings before the season starts.
