FLW brings you the latest news surrounding Blackburn Rovers.
Blackburn Rovers will be looking to build on the positive end last season that they had under Valerien Ismael.
The Frenchman was under mounting pressure after failing to steady the ship following John Eustace’s departure, with the Lancashire outfit originally taking just two points from his first seven league games in charge.
But a resurrection surfaced following their comeback against Sheffield Wednesday, with Rovers going on to win four of their last five matches, although a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United on the final day wasn’t enough to leapfrog back into the top six.
Rovers will be hopeful of competing for a promotion place once again, with the summer transfer window the perfect time to bolster the multiple areas of the squad and prepare as well as possible for the upcoming term.
With this in mind, FLW brings you all the latest news from Ewood Park.
Blackburn Rovers are considering a summer swoop for Sunderland midfielder Nectar Triantis.
According to Scottish journalist Scott Burns of the Daily Record, Blackburn are the latest club to consider a move for the Australian, despite the club already completing the capture of Moreirense midfielder Sidnei Tavares.
The 22-year-old Triantis enjoyed a fruitful period out on loan in the Scottish Premiership with Hibernian, playing 29 times in the top flight last season and scoring three goals, but he has since returned to the Stadium of Light following the end of his 18-month spell at Easter Road.
In total, the 22-year-old appeared 39 times in the league for Hibs, and despite originally joining as a centre-back, Triantis was converted into a midfielder and regularly appeared in the middle of the park under manager David Gray.
Rovers are expected to face stiff competition for Triantis, with Bundesliga outfit St. Pauli interested, along with second tier rivals Portsmouth, although local reports back in May suggested that Pompey's apparent interest was not true.
Blackburn Rovers are also interested in another midfield addition, with the Lancashire outfit one of four Championship teams keeping tabs over Barnsley’s Jon Russell.
Football League World exclusively revealed that Blackburn have joined Oxford United, Stoke City and Derby County in the pursuit, after the 24-year-old enjoyed the best season of his career last term at Oakwell.
Rovers are said to be a fan of his versatility in midfield as he is able to operate in defensive and attacking roles.
Russell has found a new lease of life in Yorkshire, scoring 11 times and providing two assists from 40 appearances as the Tykes finished 12th in the third tier.
Blackburn Rovers target Steve Kapuadi has commented over his future at Legia Warsaw after Rovers registered an interest in a summer move for the defender.
Journalist Alan Nixon revealed that Blackburn will offer £1.5m to Legia Warsaw for the 6ft 5 in defender as they look to source Danny Batth’s replacement, after the former Wolves man departed for Derby County.
As reported by the Lancashire Telegraph, Kapuadi confirmed that he had been offered a new deal to remain at Legia Warsaw, but didn’t rule out a potential move away, saying “everything is possible”.
Telling TVP Sport, Kapuadi said: “Blackburn? Maybe it's even a bit too late for that question. Honestly, I don't have much to comment on.
“What is my transfer situation? I can't say anything special. I'm in Legia and I try to enjoy every moment of my life.
“I can confirm that I have received an offer of a new contract from Legia. Everything is possible.
"I have been playing in Warsaw for two seasons and I am enjoying this time. The topic is open.”
Blackburn Rovers owners, the Venky’s, have put £4.85 million into the club, and the reason for this injection has been revealed.
One of the problems that the Venky's face is that every pound that they commit to the club has to be matched with a personal guarantee, meaning that they are essentially paying twice as much to run the club as they should be.
They requested £4.85 million to be sent across to Blackburn on 26th May, as per the Lancashire Telegraph, and it has now been approved.
It has been outlined that the money sent will cover wages and other necessary payments.
The Venky's were granted a No-Objection Certificate from the Court that is investigating VHPL in October 2023 when they made a very similar request to send £11.4 million to the Championship outfit.
The certificate has made the process of getting cash to the club to cover things like wages and other liability costs, much simpler.
Because the £4.85 million has been requested on the basis that it will be used for things like wages over the summer months, the Lancashire Telegraph has revealed that Rovers will not be allowed to use any of this money to make additions to Valerien Ismael's squad, which will be frustrating for supporters to learn.
