The future of Blackburn Rovers Women is still undecided with the Lancashire club still without a league.

Rovers announced that they would not be competing in the rebranded Championship, which will be called the WSL2 for the 2025/26 season onwards citing 'the requirement for a full-time professional contract model' as one of the major factors for their decision.

Due to withdrawing from the second tier, Blackburn's can enter a league no higher than the fourth tier which is likely to see a huge change in the squad over the summer with current Rovers players having uncertain futures.

Indeed, The Lancashire Telegraph is currently reporting that while discussions between Rovers and The FA are still ongoing and that a decision 'isn't imminent'.

Should Rovers be allowed into the fourth tier of the pyramid then they would enter the National League Division One North, a competition that was won by Middlesbrough this season and includes clubs as varied as Norton & Stockton Ancients, Durham Cestria, and Leeds United.
