According to reports, League One duo Blackpool and Reading are keen on signing Republic of Ireland youth international Warren Davis from Drogheda United.

The 20-year-old forward is an exciting up-and-coming prospect in the LOI Premier Division, following his emergence into the Drogheda first team in 2023.

Throughout his senior career thus far, Davis has made 80 appearances, scoring 13 goals and assisting a further six.

According to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon page, the Irishman has caught the attention of League One duo Blackpool and Reading, who could look to bring him to England this summer.

Blackpool are looking to build upon an underwhelming season in League One last term, and have already been busy in the transfer market, adding defenders Michael Ihiekwe and Fraser Horsfall to their ranks.

Meanwhile, Reading have come off the back of a positive season, despite the continued ownership issues throughout their campaign. Now under the ownership of Rob Couhig, it must feel like a new dawn for supporters of the Berkshire outfit.

Now, according to reports from Nixon, the two third tier outfits are set to battle it out to secure the signature of Davis from Drogheda, who also has an unnamed Italian Serie B side watching him.

Anyone wanting to secure the services of the 20-year-old will have to pay a reported fee of over £100,000 to the LOI Premier Division side, who will no doubt be keen to retain the services of Davis - albeit his contract expires at the end of November.

Playing as a centre-forward for the most part this season for Drogheda, Davis has found the back of the net seven times in 20 outings in Ireland's top flight in 2025 - the joint-second most in the entire league.

In the report, Nixon also revealed that the wide-man had almost made a move to Bloomfield Road before in his youth days. He was due to join the Seasiders, but the move never materialised.

Now, Blackpool look to secure the signing of Davis at the second time of asking, and could see their chances boosted by having a long-term interest in the Irish youth international.

Whilst Reading do now have money to play with in the transfer market, Couhig has made his stance clear that he will only spend money on the right player at the right price, similar to his philosophy at Wycombe Wanderers.

It's unlikely that the Royals will be able to compete financially with Steve Bruce's side, and the long-term interest the Seasiders have held could certainly pay dividends when it comes to getting a deal over the line.
