Blow for Premier League clubs as Atalanta midfielder nears Atletico Madrid move | OneFootball

Atalanta midfielder Ederson has reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with Atletico Madrid ahead of a potential move to the club.

The Brazil international is open to a transfer to La Liga, with the two sides locked in negotiations over a fee. Atalanta are understood to be demanding around €35m (£30.5m) for Ederson, whose contract will enter its final 12 months in the summer.

Atletico have made the 26-year-old their top target to reinforce in midfield, following the sale of Conor Gallagher to Tottenham in January.

Fabrizio Romano has reported on the agreement between Ederson and Atalanta, in a blow to Premier League suitors.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle had been linked with the Brazilian, who has evolved into one of Serie A’s top midfielders in Bergamo.

He was part of the Atalanta team that won the Europa League in 2024 and ranks in the top 12% of midfielders in Europe’s top-five leagues for the percentage of forward passes completed.
