Blow for Real Madrid as Manchester City offer new contract to Rodri | OneFootball

Manchester City have reportedly offered a new contract to Rodri.

The midfielder has been linked with Real Madrid. He previously played for Atletico Madrid, but recently said that would not prevent him from joining their rivals.

The midfielder’s contract at City will expire in June 2027, but the Premier League giants have offered him a new deal.

The decision now rests with the player and his family. 

If the Spaniard rejects the offer, City are expected to demand a huge fee this summer or let him leave on a free in 2027. 

Rodri is widely regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. He is highly rated for his intelligence, composure and passing. 

He joined City for £62.6 million in 2019. He has made 293 appearances across all competitions, bagging 28 goals and 32 assists. 

His contributions have helped City win four Premier League titles and a Champions League. 

However, Rodri suffered a knee injury in September 2024, and he hasn’t been the same since. 

The midfielder has made only 14 Premier League starts this season after he picked up a hamstring injury in October. 

Despite his recent injury record, City are ready to give him a new contract.
