Athletic Club star Nico Williams has this week moved to reveal his appreciation for the talents of a member of the midfield ranks at upcoming opponents Barcelona.
The player in question? Marc Casadó.
Casadó is for his part of course in the midst of a breakout campaign, having established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet of new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick.
This comes with the 21-year-old having taken full advantage of an early-season injury crisis in the Blaugrana’s engine room, to showcase his impressive abilities on both sides of the ball.
All told, Casadó has racked up 22 appearances across all competitions, chipping in with five assists along the way.
Such ongoing excellence earned for the youngster a call-up to the most recent Spanish national team squad, with Casadó having gone on to notch his first two caps for Luis de la Fuente’s side against Denmark and Switzerland.
And one individual who was left nothing short of taken aback by the abilities boasted by the midfielder was new international teammate Nico Williams.
Speaking in an interview with ‘Universo Valdano’ on Movistar+ (as cited by Diario Sport) ahead of tomorrow’s Spanish Super Cup meeting between Barca and Athletic Club, wide-man Williams admitted:
“I was blown away by him (Casadó). Sharing a locker room with players like him has made me a better player.”
