Boca could pivot to Alan Franco if their move for Jhohan Romaña collapses, with the 29-year-old viewed as the leading fallback to strengthen the defence.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, negotiations for the Colombian have stalled after early optimism, coming after Boca secured their first signing and lodged a formal proposal.
The next few hours are set to be decisive. If talks do not reach a positive outcome tomorrow, the board have decided to step up for a proven alternative, with little time to spare.
Franco, currently at São Paulo in Brazil, has been offered to the club and his profile matches what the coaching staff want. His international experience appeals internally.
He is considered ready to wear such a demanding shirt, and his aggressive marking is valued in La Ribera. Boca are reviewing his contract position in Brazil to gauge a swift move.
The hierarchy have also closed the signing of Leandro Lozano, the first addition of this winter window. The Uruguayan right-back arrives from Argentinos Juniors, with Boca to pay 3.5 million dollars for the full rights.
