According to RTI Esporte, Boca Juniors are in contact with Atlético Madrid over Thiago Almada, with the Spanish club willing to negotiate in the next window. The Argentine side have stepped up their move for the midfielder, who has previously been sounded out by Flamengo.

Almada is not in Diego Simeone’s plans for next season. Talks are therefore expected to focus on a summer exit.

Atlético Madrid paid around €30 million, approximately R$194 million, to Olympique Lyon to sign Almada. This season he has played 40 matches, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

He rose to prominence after a spell at Botafogo, winning the Libertadores and the Brasileirão in 2024. That form put him on the radar of Brazil’s biggest clubs.

Flamengo explored a move in recent windows but did not make an official offer. The club instead prioritised Lucas Paquetá, who wanted to return to the team.
