According to SuperDepor.com, Boca Juniors have missed out on Colombian winger Marino Hinestroza at the window’s close, and will lean on youth for the Torneo Apertura 2026 start.

Talks collapsed late on. Boca expected him at Brandsen 805 to sign, believing terms with Atlético Nacional were set, before Vasco da Gama arrived with a superior offer.

The Brazilian side proposed 6 million dollars plus 20 percent of any future sell-on, a package that removed Juan Román Riquelme’s priority target.

Boca had emailed on the previous Friday to confirm they met the agreed finances and had Hinestroza’s willingness to join. Atlético Nacional then changed stance, sending him to Brazil and leaving resentment over how talks unfolded.

With no time to revive the move, Boca now face a depleted front line. Miguel Merentiel tore a muscle against Olimpia and is out at least three weeks, while Edinson Cavani has lumbalgia and Milton Giménez pubalgia.

Lucas Janson is the leading option to spearhead the attack against Riestra, despite only one start in 2025.

Claudio Úbeda has promoted Iker Zufiaurre, a 20-year-old winger and standout for the Torneo Proyección champions. From Adela María, Córdoba, he joined in 2017, became a winger, was Under-20 Libertadores runner-up in 2024 with two in five, and debuted on 3 April against Nacional Potosí before minutes against Atlético Tucumán.
