Boca have revived their pursuit of Alexis Cuello as they look to bolster Rodolfo Arruabarrena's attack after a failed January move.
According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the club have again set their sights on the San Lorenzo forward. Persistence with priority targets under Juan Román Riquelme is a hallmark, with Carlos Palacios and Alan Velasco cited as recent examples.
In January, personal terms were in place, but San Lorenzo's board would not budge and the deal collapsed.
Boca want youthful quality to suit Arruabarrena's demanding blueprint. Talks have been reopened via negotiations for centre-back Jhohan Romaña, and while discussions remain preliminary, the need for attacking options is bringing timelines forward.
During the last window Boca offered about 3 million dollars for 60% of the player owned by San Lorenzo. Terms with Almagro, who hold the rest, were aligned, yet financial conditions imposed by San Lorenzo scuppered the move. The board's track record suggests they rarely abandon such targets.
Red tape is the major obstacle. A court embargo on San Lorenzo affects incoming funds, narrowing routes to either a mutual settlement or a firm push from the player to complete a move.
Cuello's versatility appeals to Arruabarrena, whose preferred 4-3-3, with Adam Bareiro set to lead the line, demands quick, diligent wingers. With a possible sale of Miguel Merentiel in this window, his arrival is considered an absolute priority.
