Boca suffer fresh injury ahead of Copa Argentina debut | OneFootball

Boca have suffered a fresh injury blow on the eve of their 2026 Copa Argentina debut, with right back Juan Barinaga ruled out. They are due to face Gimnasia de Chivilcoy in Salta in the round of 32.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, a fitness issue in the final training sessions forced late changes to the travelling party and the squad list.

Barinaga, a key starter across the first five rounds of the Torneo Apertura, sustained a muscle tear and will be out for the next few weeks. He had already lost his place to Marcelo Weigandt in the recent clásico against Racing, and now misses the trip to Salta.

Head coach Claudio Úbeda has responded by calling up youngster Dylan Gorosito to cover the right flank. Gorosito will compete with Weigandt, who delivered a steady display in the win over Racing at La Bombonera.

There is encouragement for supporters too, with new signing Adam Bareiro named in the travelling group only days after his unveiling. Despite limited sessions with the squad, the Paraguayan forward has a strong chance of featuring against the Chivilcoy side.
