Boca Juniors have learned their 2026 Copa Sudamericana route after Friday's knockout draw, with a potential Superclásico only possible in the semi-finals.

According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Boca dropped into the competition after a bruising Libertadores exit, finishing third in group D. They must contest the play-offs to reach the last 16, meeting O'Higgins of Chile over two legs.

If they progress, they would face Recoleta of Paraguay in the last 16. The quarter-final would then be against the winner of São Paulo versus either Bolívar or Gremio.

River begin in the last 16 against Santa Fe or Caracas F.C., then could meet the winner from Independiente Medellín, Vasco da Gama and Olimpia in the quarters. Both giants sit on the same side of the bracket, so a final is ruled out.

Elsewhere, the draw set potential ties including Sporting Cristal or RB Bragantino against Atlético Mineiro, Univ. Central or Santos against Macará, Nacional or Tigre against Montevideo City Torque, and Lanús or Cienciano against Botafogo.

The final is scheduled for 21 November 2026 at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla.
