Bologna striker Santiago Castro has addressed recent speculation linking him with a move to Chelsea, insisting that he remains focused on his current club.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Argentine forward dismissed any suggestion that he is looking for an exit and reiterated his commitment to Bologna’s project.
Castro revealed that while there was interest from Saudi side Al Hilal, he had already rejected their approach. “I said no to Al Hilal,” he said.
When asked about Bologna’s ambitions for silverware and the trophy parade for it, the Argentine claimed: “If we keep winning, I’ll even drive the bus myself.”
Speaking further about Al Hilal’s approach in the summer, the striker said: “It’s true. But I wanted to stay here to complete my development and because this is where I want to return to the national team and maybe live out my dream: the World Cup.”
On the rumours connecting him with Chelsea, Castro was calm and composed, saying that transfer talk does not affect his mentality.
“I’ve always thought about Bologna. I’m happy to be able to do it. At this Bologna, you have fun playing football. And when you’re having fun, things get better.”
The talent has already made his mark in Serie A this season. If not for an injury picked up during the international break, he could have gone past the ten-goal mark last season. Bologna would hope that he does that in the ongoing campaign.
