Bontempo uses break to tackle pubis issue, but gives no return date for Santos | OneFootball

Gabriel Bontempo is using Santos’s mid-season break to address a pubis problem and has declined to set a comeback date, leaving his return uncertain.

"I do not know about facing Botafogo. We are still aligning things internally. The important thing is I am progressing and feeling good," he told ge.

The 21-year-old featured in Santos’s last match before the pause, a 3-1 win over Vitória.

He missed the friendly against União São João a week ago to continue treatment with club medical and fitness staff.

Santos are the first side back, facing Botafogo at Engenhão on Thursday at 19:30 Brasília time in the Campeonato Brasileiro, even before the World Cup concludes.

"I am recovering well. I had a small discomfort in the pubis. It is a tricky area to treat, but I am improving, progressing well and strengthening. I hope to be back soon."

The club face a busy schedule with three competitions. Beyond the Brasileiro, Cuca’s team play the Copa Sudamericana play-off from 21 July and the Copa do Brasil in early August.
