Nick Woltemade has had a stop-start to life at Newcastle United since his €80 million move from VfB Stuttgart last summer.

He started the season brightly, but has struggled in front of goal in recent months, scoring just one goal across all competitions in 2026.

Woltemade is now reportedly attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund (Sport Bild). However, Dortmund’s managing director of sports Lars Ricken dismissed the rumours.

Dortmund could still move for Woltemade

Serhou Guirassy and Fabio Silva are Dortmund’s centre forward options, but uncertainty surrounds the former’s future.

The Guinea international’s departure would force Dortmund to explore the market for a new striker.

Woltemade could be an ideal fit for the club, given his Bundesliga experience.

The German international was one of the standout strikers in the competition last term, contributing 12 goals and two assists in 28 appearances.

Newcastle will reportedly aim to sign a striker this summer, which would lead to a diminished role for Woltemade next season.

The 24-year-old is keen on staying at Newcastle, but that stance could change with the arrival of a new striker.

This could pave the way for Dortmund to make a move for Woltemade.

Newcastle are expected to demand a substantial fee if they decide to sell the forward, potentially affecting Dortmund’s interest. A loan-plus-obligation deal could be ideal for all parties.
