Borussia Dortmund ‘have’ €1.5m option for Takato Yamamoto

Borussia Dortmund have an option worth €1.5 million to sign Takato Yamamoto permanently, Bild claims, after the teenager impressed in pre-season.

The 18-year-old joined on loan from Gamba Osaka and marked his first outing in Black and Yellow with a goal in a 3-1 friendly win over Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.

That start has raised the prospect of Dortmund taking up the option, given the price, though any decision will depend on his continued progress.

Head coach Niko Kovač said there were already some very good signs, adding that he had seen genuinely useful traits and that the youngster will bring the team a lot of joy.

Yamamoto had initially been earmarked for the second team, but if he maintains this level he could force his way into Kovač’s first-team plans.
