We are just a day away from Barcelona’s big Champions League quarterfinal game against Borussia Dortmund, with Hansi Flick’s men looking to regain winning momentum after drawing with Real Betis over the weekend.
Despite reaching the final of the Champions League last season, Dortmund are not exactly in great form this season and were notably dealt the injury of star player Nico Schlotterbeck yesterday.
The Black and Yellows, therefore, may not have much choice but to play a defensive game and pin their hopes on their services of Serhou Guirassy, one of the top scorers in the UEFA Champions League.
In an interaction with Dortmund’s official media before the game, Guirassy notably talked about the prospect of facing Barcelona while heaping praise on Robert Lewandowski.
It is no secret that Guirassy is a huge admirer of Robert Lewandowski and closely watches the Polish international whenever he is in action.
When asked whether or not Lewandowski is one of his idols, Guirassy said, “Yes, definitely – especially because of his consistency. He’s had an amazing career, he’s 36 years old and still one of the top scorers in the league. That shows his level.
“He’s a great player and everyone knows it. He no longer needs to prove anything.”

When asked about what makes Lewandowski such a great player, the Dortmund striker pointed out his commitment and hard work.
“I think the secret is hard work. He works hard and is always quick, so it’s about dedication, care, recovery, and nutrition. All of that makes a difference,” he said.
Lewandowski has indeed been in top form this season, but Guirassy hasn’t been bad either and is currently one of the top scorers in the UCL, with 10 goals in 12 matches.
He is, fact, joined by Raphinha and Lewandowski among the list of top scorers in the Champions League this season, to which the forward said, “I hope it’s a goal festival – but in our favor!”
It must be remembered that Guirassy had scored a brace when Dortmund met Barcelona in the league phase in December.
Talking about his performance in that game, the forward said, “Of course, it’s great to score against Barcelona – they’re among the top ten teams in the world. It shows you’re capable of scoring against the best. But every goal matters, especially in the Champions League.”
“It was an unbelievable match. The result wasn’t good for us, but now it’s different because it’s a knockout tie. Both teams will step up their game,” the Dortmund star added.
Finally, Guirassy was asked about Barcelona’s sizzling form heading into this tie. The striker had not nothing but praise for the Catalans.
“The numbers speak for themselves. They are a great team and at the top of their game. But we are focusing on ourselves, on Dortmund, and we want to deliver the best match possible,” he concluded.
