Borussia Mönchengladbach’s preparations for the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign continue apace. Having already secured the services of defender Kevin Diks for next year, the Foals are also about to snatch up FC Nürnberg midfielder Jens Castrop. Florian Plettenberg and others report that Gladbach have reached a verbal agreement with the 21-year-old over a summer transfer.

Unlike Diks, Castrop will not be moving to Gladbach on a free. The Middle Franconians will receive compensation for their player. Castrop currently maintains an estimated €3m market worth. Transfermarkt currently reports on a fee that can rise as high as €4.5m with performance-based bonuses, while Patrick Berger reports that Castrop has agreed to a deal valid until 2029.

The Düsseldorf-native came up through the FC Köln ranks and has represented Nürnberg in the second division for the last two seasons as a regular starter.
