Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo in the winter transfer window, but he prefers to join Arsenal.
The news initially circulated on African media outlets before the Sun claimed the story as an ‘exclusive’.
Spurs want to bolster their options in the final third, and the Ghana international is on their radar. However, they could face competition from the Gunners.
Semenyo has a £65 million release clause in his Cherries’ contract, which would allow him to leave before January 10.
Spurs manager Thomas Frank needs quality finishers, and the 25-year-old fits the bill, having notched six goals and three assists in the Premier League this term.
However, the ‘extraordinary‘ Semenyo would be far more tempted if Arsenal made an offer. A move to Manchester City or Liverpool would also be more appealing to the Bournemouth star.
Arsenal are currently without 15-year-old Max Dowman after he sustained an ankle injury while playing for the Under-21s over the weekend.
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are closing in on returns to the first team, but the Gunners have struggled to keep some of their key players fit and need reinforcements.
Arsenal pipped Spurs to Eberechi Eze in the summer. He opted to join the Gunners at the last minute, having come close to signing for Tottenham.
The Gunners will fancy their chances of repeating the trick with Semenyo if they decide to move for him in the winter transfer window.
