And they have done it again: Manchester United conceded the first goal in their contest against Bournemouth.

The Red Devils are looking to register their second Premier League in a row after shocking Man City last weekend with an astonishing late comeback guided by Amad Diallo.

Nevertheless, Ruben Amorim’s men are largely failing on this front, at least after the first half. The Reds allowed the Cherries to take the lead as they were once again unable to properly defend a set piece.

Ryan Christie’s free-kick was met by Dean Huijsen who managed to create just enough room for himself by outmuscling his Dutch compatriot Joshua Zirkzee. The former Juventus and Roma defender took his header exceptionally well, sending the ball flying towards Andre Onana’s far corner.

Therefore, Man United find themselves trailing 0-1 for the sixth match in a row.

This abysmal run dates back to the club’s 0-2 defeat at the hands of Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, which was the first loss under the guidance of Amorim.

The Red Devils then conceded an early goal (also from a dead-ball situation) in their following contest against Nottingham Forest which ended in a 2-3 upset, much to the despair of the Old Trafford home supporters.

The next one was a Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen. And while the Czech side scored first, United managed to turn the result upside-down and eventually earn a 3-2 victory. Amorim’s men also staged a comeback in last weekend’s derby against Man City.

On Thursday, Man United threatened yet another comeback for the ages after cutting the deficit from 0-3 to 2-3 against Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, but the Spurs escaped with a 4-3 victory.

Therefore, it remains to be seen if United will manage to escape with a result against Bournemouth, but perhaps they should work on avoiding these drastic scenarios in the first place.
