Bournemouth have rejected Chelsea’s approach for Alex Scott, according to journalist Alex Crook.

Chelsea were willing to pay more than £60 million for the English midfielder, but Bournemouth insist he is not for sale.

The Blues are looking to sign a new central midfielder and appear to be prioritising Premier League-proven players.

Chelsea also pursued a move for Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka, but the move fell through. They have now turned their attention to Scott.

The Bournemouth ace is capable of playing across the midfield. He is press-resistant, an excellent ball carrier, links play well and possesses a relentless work rate.

Scott helped Bournemouth qualify for the 2026/27 Europa League. He featured in 37 Premier League games, registering three goals and one assist.

He was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Year award, which was won by Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also interested in the 22-year-old. Bournemouth have previously rejected an approach from the Gunners for Scott.

Scott has two years left on his current contract and has rejected Bournemouth’s latest renewal offer. The club may eventually have to sell the former Bristol City player this summer.

It is unclear whether Chelsea will be willing to match Scott’s valuation if Bournemouth change their stance.

Chelsea have signed Morgan Rogers in a British-record deal and need to raise funds from player sales to avoid breaching the financial rules.
