A meeting between two sides in contrasting form takes place at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, as Bournemouth host Newcastle United.
The Cherries are one of the league’s in-form teams, with a three-match winning streak propelling them into the top four, while the visitors are struggling for consistency and are coming off a draining midweek European fixture.
Adding another layer to the contest is the historical record of Newcastle’s manager, Eddie Howe. The former Bournemouth boss has a notable winless record against the club he once managed, a trend he will be desperate to end this weekend.
Bournemouth have been boosted by the return of midfielder Ryan Christie, who is now fully fit. Defender Bafodé Diakité is also expected to be available, but Enes Ünal and Adam Smith remain sidelined for the visit of Newcastle.
Eddie Howe is facing a mounting injury and suspension crisis. Anthony Gordon is suspended, while Yoane Wissa and Jacob Ramsey are out injured. Furthermore, key defenders Kieran Trippier and Fabian Schär are doubts after picking up knocks in the midweek clash with Barcelona.
The Cherries are one of the league’s form teams, having won their last three games to climb to fourth in the table. Their attack has been led by the explosive Antoine Semenyo, who is the joint-top goal contributor in the Premier League this season with five goal involvements. Bournemouth are also unbeaten in their last six league games against the Magpies.
The Magpies have struggled for consistency, winning just one of their opening four league matches. Their defence has been a strong point, with three clean sheets this season. However, their attack has faltered on the road, where they are without a goal in their last three games. Fatigue could also be a major factor after their European exertions.
Bournemouth predicted XI: Petrović; Hill, Milosavljević, Senesi, Truffert; Adams, Scott; Semenyo, Tavernier, Brooks; Evanilson.
Newcastle United predicted XI: Pope; Livramento, Thiaw, Burn, Hall; Guimarães, Tonali, Joelinton; Elanga, Woltemade, Barnes.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Main Event in the UK, with coverage beginning at 1:30 pm BST.
