Brazil have departed for the United States, where they will play their final warm-up and the World Cup. Supporters gathered at Rio’s Galeão to see the squad off, with the loudest cheers for Neymar and Vinicius Júnior, both formerly of Flamengo.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Alisson was the first to step off the team bus at Galeão International Airport at about 20:40 Brasília time. Neymar followed, prompting celebrations among those waiting.
Three players were not present in Rio de Janeiro. Centre-backs Gabriel Magalhães and Marquinhos, plus forward Gabriel Martinelli, travelled straight to the United States after the Champions League final on Saturday (30).
Four Flamengo players are in the squad, Alex Sandro, Danilo, Léo Pereira and Lucas Paquetá. Vinicius Júnior and Wesley, academy graduates from the Rio club, will also contest the World Cup.
Goalkeeper Léo Nannetti of Flamengo is travelling with the group for the tournament. He will not play in official matches, instead supporting training sessions and gaining experience.
Before the World Cup, Brazil are in action on Saturday (06). The team led by Carlo Ancelotti face Egypt in the United States at 19:00 Brasília time in a final friendly.
