Brazil and France clash in an international friendly at Gillette Stadium, with both World Cup hopefuls using the fixture to fine-tune their preparations for the 2026 finals.
Across their last six games in all competitions, Brazil have recorded three wins, two defeats and one draw, a run that highlights how occasional defensive errors have taken the shine off some encouraging spells with the ball. Their most recent outing ended in a 1-1 draw against Tunisia in November.
Carlo Ancelotti has had to reshuffle Brazil’s back line late on, as Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes, Liverpool keeper Alisson Becker and experienced left-back Alex Sandro – now playing for Flamengo – have all withdrawn from the squad due to injuries.
Neymar is absent by choice rather than through any physical problem, with Ancelotti again omitting Brazil’s record goalscorer and instead handing chances to uncapped forwards Igor Thiago and Rayan, who have both been in standout Premier League form for Brentford and Bournemouth.
However, Thiago and Rayan still face fierce competition for attacking places, with Matheus Cunha, Vinicius Junior, Raphinha and Joao Pedro all battling for precious minutes before the World Cup in what is arguably the most talent-packed forward unit in international football.
Possible Brazil starting XI: Ederson; Wesley, Bremer, Marquinhos, D. Santos; Raphinha, Casemiro, A. Santos, Vinicius Jr; Cunha, Pedro
The match will kick off at 8pm BST on Thursday, 26th March.
In the United Kingdom, the game between Brazil and France will be shown live on ITV4, with free online coverage available via the ITVX streaming platform.
