The Irishman held no punches and told it how it is, even if the baying press pack didn’t want to hear it, let alone agree with what he had to say.

Brendan confidently and truthfully stated that he didn’t see any improvement in the Ibrox side since media darling Barry Ferguson took over from Philippe Clement last month.

In Brendan’s own words: “I see the team go 2-0 down to Kilmarnock and come back to win. I see the team lose at home to Motherwell. They get a fantastic result away at Fenerbahce then lose 2-0 over ninety minutes.” That’s a very honest and more importantly accurate statement on the subject regarding the form of the Ibrox club at the moment. It’s a proven fact that they haven’t improved in the slightest since the departure of Clement.

Poor domestically and half decent in Europe’s secondary competition was their characteristic traits under the Belgian, so Brendan is absolutely spot on in his assessment, despite the howls of disapproval from the SMSM and theRangers supporters alike.

Celtic may well face a big challenge on Sunday despite the current circumstances of both sides, it’s a derby game after all where form supposedly goes out the window, but Brendan is just telling it how it really is. He’s rattled the Bears once again, by simply telling them the facts rather than serving up their usual dose of feel-good fiction.

The proof is in the pudding and tomorrow Barry Ferguson gets his chance to show that he is making a difference and an improvement.
