Brentford are waiting on Mikkel Damsgaard’s fitness for Saturday night’s visit to Leeds United, with the attacker back in training after a knock.

The club said in a statement that Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario will undergo hernia surgery next week, a minor procedure timed to minimise disruption, and could return within a month.

Damsgaard, who hit two and assisted one in the recent win over Burnley, went off after 72 minutes of the 2-2 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers and missed sessions this week. He has been back on the grass and will be assessed before kick-off.

Keith Andrews’ side will be without full-backs Rico Henry and Aaron Hickey due to hamstring injuries. Vitaly Janelt has a metatarsal problem and Josh Dasilva a knee ligament issue, while Fábio Carvalho and Antoni Milambo are out for the season with ACL injuries.

Leeds have everyone fit and available except the suspended Gabriel Gudmundsson. They host opponents in sharp away form, with recent wins at Burnley, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

The Italian has started all 30 of Spurs’ Premier League matches so far. He did not begin the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Atletico Madrid, but came on after back-up Antonín Kinský conceded three inside 17 minutes with two errors.
