SV Werder Bremen are preparing for what will be their final match under the floodlights this season, as they host Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday night (5th April, 18:30 CEST). The Green-Whites will be looking to carry the momentum from last weekend's 3-0 win against Holstein Kiel with them against this season's Europa League quarter-finalists from Frankfurt. At the pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's match, head coach Ole Werner spoke about…
…the momentum from the Kiel win: "A a win coupled with a good performance always serves for a good mood. We worked hard for it in Kiel. Now, we need to build on it against a different calibre of side. We want to approach it the same way we did earlier this season, but finish with a better result than back then."
…opponents Frankfurt: "We're all aware that Frankfurt are a team with a lot of individual quality and that they're in a very different area of the table compared to Kiel. I don't have to prepare anyone for that fact. Frankfurt are variable in possession, which makes it tricky to defend against them. They have consistently picked up points recently and have played well, so it will be a tough challenge for us."
…Eintracht head coach Dino Toppmöller: "I'm always happy to see him again. We get on well and know each other from our coaching course back in the day. During the game, we will both be focused on our respective jobs. I hope that this time, we'll be on the end of a more positive result (laughs)."
…the business end of the season: "Of the games we have left, two are against teams in the top of the table. We want to end the season well and are yet to crack the 40-point mark. We want to take another step closer on the weekend and it's up to us to determine how many more points we'll add to our tally."
????️ Werner on the squad: "Milos Veljkovic and Anthony Jung are both a doubt with muscular problems. We will have to wait and see how they do during our final training session, but we're slightly more optimistic that Tony will be able to play on Saturday." #werder #svwsge[image or embed]— SV Werder Bremen EN (@en.werder.de) 3 April 2025 at 13:45
…Werder's record at home: "For us, this is something that we can discuss. We want to improve our record at home and if we manage to equal our results from the first half of the season, then we stand a good chance of doing so. Of course we want to match our performances and get the wins at home that we have been getting on the road. So far, we haven't managed to do so and to bring this same sense of ease to the pitch. However, there are also several other factors that have an influence on this."
…set piece takers: "Duckschi and Romano are strong from set pieces. In Kiel, we did some switching around. These are things that we discuss with them when we work on our set plays. The competition helps push both of them and we have a good number of options to choose from."
… Oliver Burke: "He's done well to showcase his strengths on the pitch, is physical and has also improved defensively. We have six strikers who all want to play and who are all capable of playing. Burkey is feeling good and has done well so far."
…the U19s win against Bayern: "Wesley Adeh played well during the first half. We're convinced that he has a big future ahead of him if he continues on like this. Our team deservedly won and played well. You can see who is doing well and who still has to put in a bit of work in order to be invited to train with the first team. My fingers are crossed that they will be able to end the season by winning the cup."
