Bruno Fernandes is reportedly set to stay at Manchester United for at least another year, despite Saudi Pro League interest and the lure of a Cristiano Ronaldo reunion.

talkSPORT reports the captain has informed team-mates and close contacts of his plan, and that there were no formal talks with the club over his future before the World Cup.

The 31-year-old remains central to United’s plans. He has one year left on his deal, with a further one-year option, and a €65 million (£56m) release clause that applies to non-English clubs. United officials are relaxed about the situation.

Interest from Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad dates back to last summer. Fernandes was tempted by Al-Hilal ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup, but ultimately judged staying at Old Trafford the best football and family decision.

The report adds Al-Nassr remain keen on reuniting him with Ronaldo, and that Portugal boss Roberto Martinez is in talks to take charge of the Riyadh club after the World Cup.

Since arriving from Sporting CP in January 2020, Fernandes has delivered 107 goals and 108 assists in 327 appearances. Last season he produced a Premier League-high 21 assists, breaking the single-season mark previously shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
