Coventry fan pundit Chris picked out Callum O'Hare as a former player he dislikes more than most.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Coventry City fans are loving life at the moment, with Frank Lampard’s side currently flying high at the top of the Championship.
The ex-Chelsea boss has built a tight-knit squad, and the vast majority are making big contributions on a regular basis as the Sky Blues look to reach the Premier League.
Of course, it hasn’t always been this way for Coventry, and the fans will rightly point out that they have been put through a lot over the years, from dropping to League Two and playing in a different city.

Over the years, many players have pulled on the sky blue shirt, and it’s fair to say that not all have been popular with those on the terraces.
So, when quizzed by FLW about which former player the majority of the support didn’t like, Coventry fan pundit Chris admitted there were plenty of possibilities. However, one name stood above the rest, as he explained why Callum O’Hare is someone he doesn’t hold in high regard after he departed on a free to join Sheffield United.
“I could think of quite a few answers for this one, especially if I think back to the mid 90s to the mid 00s where quite a few of our players would leave to go to local rivals like Birmingham and Aston Villa specifically.
“But, the first name that springs to mind has got to be Callum O’Hare. He was a good player for us, the fans loved him, and we treated him well during his lengthy rehab. He was offered a new contract, which he turned down. He was offered more money, which he turned down.
“O’Hare thought he was worth more than that, and that he would get a Premier League move because he had been linked to the likes of West Ham and Leicester. In the end, he made a sideward step, as he went to Sheffield United following their relegation, and they ended the season in the exact same way we did - by not getting through the play-offs!

“He started this season badly, with many Sheffield United fans criticising him, and although he has picked up recently, he has such an ego, and there is something unlikeable about him.
“I’ve absolutely no interest in O’Hare, I can’t stand him, and I always want him to do badly, and he strikes me as a player who thinks he is bigger than the club.”
These are very strong words about O’Hare, and there’s no denying that the manner of his exit did annoy the majority of Coventry's support.
In fairness, fans of every club are usually unhappy when a player leaves on a free, and there was a sense that O’Hare owed the Sky Blues when you consider how they stuck by him after a very tough period with injuries.

But, it should be said that O’Hare didn’t do anything wrong in letting his contract run out before assessing his options. Plus, he was a big player for Coventry, and he produced some magic moments over the years.
Yet, the way he left will leave a sour taste, and it’s fair to say that things haven’t exactly gone to plan for O’Hare since his departure.
Clearly, he felt Sheffield United offered a quicker route to the Premier League, but, as mentioned above, both clubs fell short in the play-offs. Now, under Lampard, Coventry are flying, whilst the Blades are struggling at the wrong end of the table.
With the football that Lampard plays, you could imagine O’Hare flourishing, but he made his decision, and he will no doubt have a tinge of regret when he looks at the table.
