Burnley and Nottingham Forest clash in a crucial Premier League encounter at Turf Moor on Saturday, with both struggling sides desperate for a victory.
The match pits a Burnley team whose encouraging performances have been undone by heartbreaking late defeats against a Forest side in turmoil. New manager Ange Postecoglou is already under pressure after a league loss and a cup exit last week.
Scott Parker’s main concern is the suspension of midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu, who was sent off against Liverpool. He joins long-term absentees Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts, and Zeki Amdouni on the sidelines. Josh Cullen and Josh Laurent are expected to form a new partnership in central midfield.
Ange Postecoglou faces significant defensive issues, with key centre-back Murillo a major doubt after picking up an injury at Arsenal. Ola Aina and Nicolas Domínguez are also unavailable. Experienced striker Chris Wood is expected to be recalled to the starting lineup to lead the attack.
The Clarets have just three points from four games, but their performances against top opposition have been spirited. They suffered the agony of conceding stoppage-time penalties in narrow defeats to both Manchester United and Liverpool. However, their home record against Forest is excellent, having lost just one of the last eight meetings at Turf Moor.
The visitors are in mini-crisis, having lost their last three matches in all competitions. A 3-0 league defeat to Arsenal was followed by an embarrassing 3-2 Carabao Cup exit at Swansea City. Forest’s defence is a major concern, as they have conceded nine goals in those three games and are without a clean sheet in their last 12 league fixtures.
Burnley predicted XI: Dubravka; Walker, Ekdal, Esteve, Hartman; Cullen, Laurent; Tchaouna, Mejbri, Anthony; Foster
Nottingham Forest predicted XI: Sels; Savona, Milenkovic, Morato, Williams; Sangare, Anderson; Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
The match will not be broadcast live in the UK due to the 3:00 pm blackout.
