Cabo misses out on Barça Atlètic move after knee concern | OneFootball

Jon Cabo, 25, will not join Barça Atlètic after a short trial. The club halted a potential deal after slight knee swelling was detected following training sessions, soon after his ligament surgery recovery.

As reported by as.com, the winger trained for three days under Juliano Belletti and cleared the initial medical tests. The swelling appeared after some sessions, so the doctor paused any move until the end of the season.

Cabo suffered the injury nine months ago while at Lugo, his last club. Since surgery and rehabilitation he had spent two weeks training with Barakaldo at Lasesarre.

Barça Atlètic face an injury crisis in his position and needed someone who could play immediately. With promotion to Primera Federación the target, they are unwilling to take risks.

Cabo needs more time to be fully competitive and the club cannot wait. The Bilbao-born wide man, noted for pace and skill, played twice for the first team under Ernesto Valverde, against Burgos and Udinese. He plans a couple of weeks’ rest before resuming training to find his next destination.
