The Bernabeu faithful looked in horror as FC Barcelona completed the annihilation of Real Madrid by a 0-4 scoreline. Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham were the only decent Merengue players on the night, with every other player just not stepping up to the occasion or lacking the character to do so.

The following ratings reflect how the Real Madrid players fared in this game.

Player ratings:

Andriy Lunin: 4.5

A forgettable game for the Ukrainian. Looked short on confidence as he could have made better efforts to save all the goals. Other than that, seemed nervous with the ball at his feet and was not that productive either.

Lucas Vazquez: 2.5

The season just keeps on getting worse for Vazquez. He held his ground in the opening half and almost recorded an assist too, but was run ragged in the second one, particularly on the last goal as he was outrunned by Raphinha, who till that moment had a quiet game. The right-back position requires reinforcements because Vazquez does not seem to be the answer.

Antonio Rüdiger: 5.5

Frustrated Lewandowski in the first-half and looked like he had the Pole in his pocket. What followed was a calamitous second-half display. Was out of position for the opener and was easily pulled out of position for the third and fourth goals. His worst performance of the season.

Eder Militao: 5.0

Pretty similar to Rüdiger’s match. Made life hell for Lewandowski and played some good long balls to the forward line albeit to no avail. This display quickly morphed into a poor second half as he easily could have cleared the ball for the second goal but was unable to do so.

Ferland Mendy: 2.0

He has just not been in form this season. Completely and utterly shambolic performance from the Frenchman. He was the reason Barca scored the first goal as he played Lewandowski onside. Was beaten easily in his battle with Lamine Yamal. As soon as Madrid gained any momentum, his last pass or placement ruined it.

Aurelien Tchouaméni: 5.0

Did well as the third centre-back and had 5 defensive actions in the match. This style of play did not suit his game as he had just 24 touches in the match. His substitution made no sense whatsoever which led to further catastrophe for Madrid.

Fede Valverde: 4.5

The worse match of the Uruguayan’s career at Real Madrid so far – and this would be an understatement. Lacked the discipline a number 8 should have. Untimed passes, mistimed runs and contributed very less overall. Should have played on the right instead of Jude, and covered Vazquez. Was also unable to combine on the right flank much.

Jude Bellingham: 6.0

This performance cannot solely be based on him only. The Englishman was bound and set up to fail. It was the third time in his career where he played on the right side and still managed to hold his ground. His average position was of a right wing-back – even deeper than Lucas Vazquez – which is an utterly disrespectful use of his skills.

However, could have done better in converting a couple of chances. Expectedly, ran out of steam in the second half. Hopefully, the last time he played in this position.

Eduardo Camavinga: 6.5

Perhaps the only bright spot for Los Blancos in this match. A top class performance in the opening half. Won as many as four tackles, dominated his duels and was calm and composed under pressure. Combined well with Vinicius on the left flank. It was mind boggling to see him subbed off.

Kylian Mbappe: 3.0

So, where to start off? Arguably the worst performance of his career so far. Most of the chances he had were called offside as Barcelona’s offside trap came to the fore.

Was caught offside 8 times and the real issue was his poor decision-making and untimed runs. A player of his caliber should know – and probably does – that he has the speed to catch up to defenders so it was surprising to see him making those runs.

To sum it up, he missed the chances when he was onside, and scored the chances where he was offside. Madrid could have easily been up by at least three goals in the opening half if it were not for his display. So FC Barcelona managed to stop the World Cup winner without having to do much.

Vinicius Junior: 5.5

Had phases in the first 45 minutes where was brilliant against Jules Kounde and Pau Cubarsi. Even he had the chance to find back of the net multiple times but fell into the trap – but at some moments, his finishing could have been better.

Combined well with Mbappe on a few occasions. But we saw a completely different Vinícius compared to what we saw against Dortmund, after Barcelona were up by two. Hopefully just a bad day at the office for the Brazilian as he most probably lifts the Ballon d’Or on Monday.

Substitutes:

Luka Modric: 6.0

Did what was exactly expected of him and made a couple of line-breaking passes but unfortunately to no avail. Arguably, should have started the match.

Brahim Díaz: 5.0

To be fair, it is not much he could have done. Returned after a month and the fatigue was visible. Looked out of sorts in his 20-minute cameo.

Fran García: N/A

Should have come on earlier but his 4-minute game was not enough to warrant a rating.
