Cameroon have been dealt with a major blow ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff clash against Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday, 13 November.

The two nations are part of the best second-placed teams in the African qualifiers and will square off in Morocco, Rabat for a place in the inter-continental playoffs final on Sunday.

Cameroon will have to do without the reliable services of New York Red Bull forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who suffered a knee sprain.

Moreover, Napoli dynamic midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa picked up a muscle injury that forced him to leave training early.

It remains to be seen whether the two key players can be available on time, with the Indomitable Lions undoubtedly sweating over their fitness.

Meanwhile, Nigeria will lock horns with Gabon in the other match. The winner of the mini-tournament will represent CAF in the global playoffs for a spot in the World Cup next year.
